There is a book 'Das Alphorn" by Brigitte Bachmann-Geiser which explains everything about the Alphorn (it is in German but with many pictures and music). In the front pocket there are sheet music of old Alphorn and Buechel melodies, and in the back pocket there are plans and dimensions about an Alphorn and a Buechel, which should help your case to make your own Alphorn.

Artist which come to my mind playing the Alphorn in a modern way are Hans Kennel, Balthasar Streiff, and Paul Haag. I know that all of these Swiss artists performed in New York. I would guess that you are looking for works by Balthasar Streiff, but I am not totally sure. I also like the CD 'Mytha' by Hans Kennel, and Paul Haag has an Alphorn Quintet which released a new CD this spring.

Dear Alphornists,

as you are experts for alphorn music in America, I consult you with a question that can not be answered here in Germany.

Years ago (about eight or nine) I listened to a radio broadcast at Christmas. For about one hour there was a mixture of traditional and modern Alphorn music being played on several locations (streets, underground stations, harbour ect.) in New York City mixed up with the sound of these locations. As I remember it was recorded by a certain artist and was from one CD. I tried to get information about the music but did not get any. I even contacted the radio stations but without success.

Even after such a long time I remember this fascinating music. Trying to google out this CD I found the homepage of your organisation. I think you as experts for Alphorn music are my last chance to find this CD. Can you help me?

Yours sincerely

Hi everyone - I'm hoping to make my own alphorn as well. I'm making cornetts at the moment so have some carving skills and I also have access to a lathe. Are there any plans available? I would really like to make a Büchel as my Principal study is Baroque trumpet.

Are there any plans available for purchase??

Thanks, Nick

You wouldn't believe it but I have wasted all day digging for some info about this. I wish I knew of this site earlier, it was a essential read and has helped me out to no end. Cheers, <a href="http://ezinearticles.com/?Funny-Christmas-Songs-For-Children---Groove-King-Senseless
