There is a great book about Alphorns called ‘Das Alphorn” by Brigitte Bachmann-Geiser. It is the most detailed book about Alphorns I know. It is in German, but therer are many photographs and also melodies. In the front pocket there is a booklet with sheet music of old Alphorn and Buechel melodies, and in the back pocket ther are plans/dimensions of an Alphorn and Buechel in case you would want to make your own Alphorn. It gives the whole history of the Alphorn and it is very well researched. It also has a section about the Alphorn in foreign countries.
