The American Alphorn Society like the International Alphorn Society foster the mission to gather people in the US and around the world, who have a mutual interest in the origin, culture and performance of the Alphorn, and to develop awareness of the versatility of this ancient instrument.

Dear Alphornists,
as you are experts for alphorn music in America, I consult you with a question that can not be answered here in Germany.
Years ago (about eight or nine) I listened to a radio broadcast at Christmas. For about one hour there was a mixture of traditional and modern Alphorn music being played on several locations (streets, underground stations, harbour ect.) in New York City mixed up with the sound of these locations. As I remember it was recorded by a certain artist and was from one CD. I tried to get information about the music but did not get any. I even contacted the radio stations but without success.
Even after such a long time I remember this fascinating music. Trying to google out this CD I found the homepage of your organisation. I think you as experts for Alphorn music are my last chance to find this CD. Can you help me?
Yours sincerely

Artist which come to my mind playing the Alphorn in a modern way are Hans Kennel, Balthasar Streiff, and Paul Haag. I know that all of these Swiss artists performed in New York. I would guess that you are looking for works by Balthasar Streiff, but I am not totally sure. I also like the CD ‘Mytha’ by Hans Kennel, and Paul Haag has an Alphorn Quintet which released a new CD this spring.
